Halloween 2008

Sometimes it's very hard to have these fun holidays come around and not have your own kids around to share it with. Thankfully my sisters share their kids and grand kids with me, so I get to be involved some.

Makinzee went to Utah with her dad for the week so It was just Ashton. She called and asked me to come carve pumpkins with her. We all got into it. Me, Shannon, Jason, and Derrick while mom took pictures. I think mine turned out pretty good. It was a basic one, the other guys were doing more extensive ones. Maybe I'm getting old, but it was just way more fun to watch them have a good time. Ashton's was a cat. She was asked to make a scary face, well you see what that looks like.

Steve and I love to dress up for Halloween. We go to the store all through October and try on masks. On the way home from Logan Utah, we stopped and tried some on, and these were the ones that won. Steve was going to be the pig but I couldn't talk him into wearing the blond curly wig and silver sparkle hat. Cindy says I looked like the pig from hell and Steve looked like my keeper, (should I be hurt?) maybe she isn't talking about the costumes, I'm going to have to talk to her about that I think.

We went to the carnival to see all the little guys and to see if we could scare a few of them. It is so funny to watch people try and figure out who we are. To walk up beside them and see them get nervous cuz they just are not sure who we are. And the kids just stare. I kept putting my finger up the mask's nose and then back into my mouth. Peoples looks just cracked me up. I gave Steve a big kiss and it looked like I was trying to eat his nose. He went as some old guy, but it was scary anyway. He reminded me of someone but I won't say who.

My mom really got into it also. She was like the pretty little good witch and almost pulled sexy off. I was seriously jealous. Cindy dressed up like a tired old grandma, she likes to celebrate Halloween every day of the year. Shannon was like some purple haired girl from harry potter, but I couldn't tell you what name, she was pretty hot too. All of Lance and Mindy's kids were so cute. And Shannon's little ones too.

About the third week of October 2008, we decided to go to Utah and visit Colter and Elizabeth. Lindsey and Shawn also came down so we just spent a few days just hanging out. It was close to Sedona's 3rd
birthday so we just celebrated it early. We did everything in pink, even had a pink cake. Sedona and I mixed and cooked the cake and then she frosted and decorated it. She didn't want to just put three candles in so we let her put all of them in, after all you only turn 3 once, right.

The best thing was letting her put the candy decorations on. She licked her fingers after each one and Elizabeth and I just laughed because we

knew that if Colter knew he wouldn't eat it. Well we didn't tell and he had a great big piece. She loved putting the candies on it.

After the party we played with blocks. I have to admit that Colter and Lindsey mostly played with the blocks. I don't think I have heard those two laugh like that for a long time. I just sat on the couch and watched enjoying the happiness of my family. One funny thing Sedona did was to hang the blocks with holes in them on Colter's ears. Colter and Lindsey did the guess who I am and they had Steve laughing so hard that no sound was coming out of his mouth.

We had fun hanging out with the babies. Are they not just the best looking kids you have ever seen? We brought Sedona a ladybug costume for Halloween. She wanted to wear it all over so we just let her. Trent is the happiest little guy ever. He is trying so hard to crawl. He gets up on his little toes and does push -ups, it won't be long. He just smiles all the time. And look at his cheeks, don't those look like the most kissable cheeks ever.

I just love them all.

Oh were do I start with this one. I guess I could start by saying look at the Queen Bees. If you can't tell, that's Mary and me. All dressed up and looking just like good ol dad used to when we worked bees with him as kids. I'm still asking myself what we thought we were doing getting into bee keeping. I'm blaming it on Mary leading me astray.
I think she made me think it would be fun, and in all honesty I think she was right.

To start the adventure Mary drove home with the bees on a trailor in the middle of the night. She bought them from my dad who lives in Utah and her story is funny, I hope she blogs about it. When she got home we knew we had to unload them so we got up at the butt crack of dawn to unload them (They are all in the hive at night). It was so funny watching us old folks try to unload four hives of bees. Steve and I got stung but nothing to bad. Mary and I laughed at the guys trying to not get stung (Big Babies Anyway).
Mary and I have done the first check and feeding. I'm the one looking like I'm working. Let me say that those little bees are very alive. We had the hardest time getting the smoker lit and we kept smoking each other trying to keep them from trying to get us. Mary did get stung on her under arm, she's a big baby too, saw lights and got all light headed.
We hope we can make a go of this. It would be nice to have honey to have for storage or to give away or even sale (I wonder how much money........) No really we are doing it for fun.

I'm just getting started with this blog thing so I'm not very good yet. Give me time. I should start by saying that Steve Davis is the love of my life. Even though I would love to smack him at times he is by far the nearest and dearest to my heart. He is my best friend. We have been married 27 years and still like each other. This picture was taken at the little ranch we own about a mile west of Ramah New Mexico. It is Steve's favorite place to be in the whole wide world and he teases that if he is away to long he will get old, but as long as he is in Ramah he will stay young and live forever. I'm banking on this cus I want him around a good long time.

This is the goofy family. Brandon is the oldest (He isn't really mine but I claim him) He isn't married yet but we hope someday he will be. He has the same humor as his dad and we don't stop laughing whenever he is around. Colter is mine an d Steve's oldest and is our monkee boy (This is not misspelled). He is a wonderful son that makes us very proud. He is so

At the time Brandon is serving in the military in Iraq. He has been there since last December and we have been s
o worried. We think he is brave and love and appreciate his dedication to keeping our country safe. He should get home in a few weeks and hopefully they won't have to send him back. When he is not on duty he lives in Indiana, which is way to far away and we are trying to talk him into moving closer to the South West. athletic it isn't funny and can climb, yes, like a monkee. Lindsey is our oldest daughter. She is our brown eyed beauty and would do anything for anybody. She is like the best mom ever and a real joy in our lives. Ashley is the baby and she is my mini-me. Same eyes, same temperament, same-o same-o. She is a delight and keeps me laughing.

Colter and his pretty little wife live in Logan Utah. They are both attending school at Utah State. Colter is going to be a geologist when he grows up which will be soon since he will graduate this spring. Elizabeth will also graduate in spring with a masters. We don't know where they will end up livi
ng, and this causes some concern for Steve and me. We really would love our children closer. They are expecting their first baby in February of this year. A little girl. We are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Lindsey and her husband Shawn live in McCall Idaho. No mans land in my opinion. They started a business building docks around the lakes there for the rich. I will admit that it is beautiful there in the summer, and we do enjoy visiting. They have two beautiful children. Sedona who looks just like here mom and is the most beautiful little thing. She just turned
3 on November 9th. She is such a little cowgirl. Trent was born April 7, 2008. He is so sweet. He has the biggest smile and is always so happy.

Last of the kiddo's is Ashley (flash) Rose. She is the baby of the family and we all want to take care of her and tell her what to do. She is working at getting her teaching degree in Arizona. She is serving as the relief society president in her singles ward so between work, school, church and a social life she stays very busy. She is the texting queen and I have had to learn to text just to keep up with her. I probably get 20 or more text a day from her. But she makes me smile so t
hat's okay.

Now for the grand babies. I never knew just how much fun they were. That old saying that if I had known how much fun grandchildren were I would have had them first is
really true. I just love them so much. They make me happy and tickle me from top to bottom and I love to look at photos as a matter of fact I spend tons of time scrap booking their photos. I think sometimes I am living in the past, like just looking at their photos and remembering how much fun I had with them. I do hate that they all live so far away. It makes Ramah feel like a prison sometimes. But none of our kids are settled really so it isn't like we would move to be closer yet. Although that might be a thought for the future, but then Steve would get old. What a dilemma.
